AMS Training Courses Survey

The AMS is keen to know what training our members require. A very brief survey is available here. All members are encouraged to fill it in and return it to the AMS office.

Kernel & Lab Accreditation Workshops

The AMS will be holding Kernel Assessment Training for Growers, and Lab Assessment Workshops for Processors towards the end of March in both Gympie and Wollongbar.

Lab Accreditation Workshop Gympie - March 24th in the training room at Suncoast Gold, Drummond Drive, Gympie Industrial Estate.

Macadamia Courses at Wollongbar TAFE for 2010

Wollongbar TAFE will be conducting various courses of particular relevance to macadamia farmers in 2010.
Courses include:

  • Rural Production Studies – Macadamia Nut Production #946, Wollongbar Campus – run by Alan Coates, is been held on Wednesday Evenings from 6pm – 10pm D-Block room DG07, starting from the 17th February 2010. The cost is $219.00 for the first semester, and is payable on commencement of the course.
  • A re-accreditation course has been scheduled specifically for Macadamia Growers.
    Growers are required to bring to the course evidence of appropriate pesticide use. It will be a half-day session on legislation and chemical use issues, to be held on March 19th 2010.

Those who do not bring their evidence with them on the day will not be accredited until the evidence is produced, or could be tested after the workshop for an additional fee.
Bookings are essential and can be made through the AMS Office on 6622 4933.

  • A full day Chemical Application accrediation course. For more information or bookings call the AMS office on 6622 4933. Dates to be advised
  • Organic Farming Certificate IV RTE40103 – Agricultural Section, Wollongbar Campus. This course includes field work, practical exercises, farm visits and analysis. Field visits to other regions to observe organic production are carried out as part of the course. For more information contact Dave Forrest
  • Production Horticulture Certificate III, commencing February 8
